This summer, signwriters and lettering professionals from five continents will congregate behind the OXO Tower for London’s first ever Letterheads ‘meet’. The event is open to everyone, with a feast of visual treats in the free public areas.
The main feature is The Grand Exhibition of the Pre-Vinylite Society: An 18th Century Revival, accompanied by opportunites to take behind-the-scenes tours to meet some of those participating in the Letterheads meet. A screening room will showcase a series of short films about the craft, and a glowing alphabet peep show will entertain both adults and children alike. Finally, on Saturday only, visitors can take part in a series of live experiments in the pop-up Type Tasting laboratory.
These aspects of the event are completely free for the public to view at the Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf, London SE1, 11am – 6pm (Thursday to Saturday, 16th – 18th August) and 11am – 4pm (Sunday 19th August).
